We have never really done a Christmas edition of CE so it was decided to eliminate the Techniques section in this issue (so for any newcomers, you will find a detailed Techniques section at the back of any past issues of CE) to enable us to get into the festive season with a magazine jam-packed with Christmas ideas and spirit, including give-aways and specials, as well as a free embroidery design to make a Victorian Christmas Tree Skirt and much more.
In this edition we are also proud to introduce a new columnist, Lorraine Moran the past editor-in-chief of APQ (Australian Patchwork and Quilting) who will be our quilting guru, sharing her extensive knowledge and experience with CE readers. Lorraine will also be our quilting ‘agony aunt’ with a questions and answers section in each issue. Welcome Lorraine to the CE family.
We have a myriad, (over 35 actually), of innovative, quick and easy Christmas gift ideas, guaranteed to please everyone. From the Creative Team at CE, along with Regula and Bernadette from Melann’s, Kerrie from Bernina, Danise from Singer, Lizzy from Florani and Kay from RNK Distributing, come amazing artists who share a list of endless ideas such as: wire-edged ribbons on the overlocker/serger, embroidered textured wall plaques, tree skirts, aprons, petite pillows, hairclips, a bellpull, organza chocolate bags and sachets, as well as placemats, napkin rings, coasters, Christmas decorations, a Christmas cake decorated with machine embroidery and also a topiary tree, again featuring machine-embroidered flowers, the list of ideas is never ending.
Margaret Moorehead and the gang from Melann’s inspire us again with couturier ideas suitable for all ages to wear not only at Christmas but all year round, with Gail Settle, Ilse Snyder, Anne Tormo and Barbara Konsker from the US sharing their combined talents with us just in time for Christmas.
We must not forget our three sewing legends, Sue Marynowsky, Judy Norman and Linda Scheer, all of who showcase their amazing quilts. CE can be likened to a Christmas stocking that is overflowing with goodies.
